• College Degree Needed: You must hold a basic Bachelor’s degree in any field from a government-recognized college or university.
• Final Year Students Can Apply: If you are waiting for your final college exam results or about to appear for them, you can still fill out the form. You just need to pass before the official cut-off terms mentioned in the notice.

HPPSC HPAS Recruitment 2026: Age Limit & Relaxations

The commission checks your exact age based on your age on January 01, 2026.

• General Age Range: You must be at least 21 years old and not older than 35 years old.
• 5-Year Relaxation: The upper-age limit is extended by 5 years (up to 40 years) for SC, ST, OBC, Disabled candidates, and children or grandchildren of Freedom Fighters of HP. This relaxation only applies if a seat is reserved for your category.
• Ex-Servicemen Advantage: Age relaxations are available for retired defense personnel from HP as per the official state government military employment rules of 2020.
• Himachal Government Employees: If you already work for the H.P. Government (regular or contract), you can apply up to the age of 45 years for HPAS, Tehsildar, BDO, and Treasury Officer roles. For HP Police Service and District Controller roles, you can apply up to the age of 42 years.

HPPSC HPAS Recruitment 2026: Application Fee Details

Applicants from all categories must pay a standard examination fee of INR 600. The fee must be paid online using a Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, or any other approved digital banking method. Once you pay the fee, you can’t request a refund under any circumstances. Applications sent without the fee payment will be rejected immediately without review. 

HPPSC HPAS Recruitment 2026: Selection Process

Candidates applying for these posts must pass a three-stage evaluation process to secure the job. 

• Stage 1 (Preliminary Examination): Two objective-type papers worth 200 marks each (General Studies and Aptitude Test). This stage serves as a qualifying round only. This means the marks of these exams are not counted for your final merit list.

• Stage 2 (Main Examination): This stage includes compulsory written papers (English, Hindi, Essay, and General Studies I, II, and III) with two papers for your chosen optional subject. You must score at least 40% marks in Hindi and English individually, and 45% total marks across all other papers to clear this stage.

• Stage 3 (Personality Test / Interview): Candidates who pass the written Main Examination will be called for a face-to-face interview to evaluate their overall suitability for administrative roles.

The final merit list will be based on the combined marks you secure in the Main Examination (excluding qualifying Hindi and English marks) and the Personality Test.
