  • Note: You can qualify for the higher stipend amount if you have passed any major national-level exam. So, the higher stipend slab applies to those who have passed the CSIR-UGC, ICAR, or ICMR NET (even if it is for a lectureship or assistant professorship), or the GATE exam. Candidates who have cleared any equivalent national tests run by Central Government departments and agencies, such as DBT or DST.

CSIR IHBT Palampur: Age Limit Details

These age limit guidelines apply to all 7 posts:

  • Maximum Age: 35 years old as of September 30, 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC, ST, PwBD, and women candidates. 3 years for OBC candidates.

What Is the Selection Process?

CSIR-IHBT is a government research lab in Palampur that studies Himalayan plants, biotechnology, and natural resources. The 7 positions released by the institute are not permanent government jobs. Candidates will be hired for temporary positions to help with science and research projects. 

  • All the applications submitted before the deadline will be reviewed by official screening committees.
  • Then, shortlisted candidates will be interviewed over video conferencing or MS Teams. 
  • Selected candidates will be informed about the exact online interview date separately. 
  • The final selection will be based on your interview performance.
